OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) – Expectant mothers have a new option for pain relief in Oconomowoc.
Moreland OB-GYN is offering nitrous oxide or laughing gas to women in labor at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital.
“We’re really excited to offer our patients this new option for pain relief during labor and delivery,” Dr. Stephanie Voice said.
Voice says some women may experience nausea, but otherwise, there are few risks. Voice used it during her pregnancy.
“I felt really in control,” she said. “I got some pain relief, and it kind of took the anxiety down. Allowed me to breathe it in during my contractions, when I was done, I stopped and I felt like my normal self in between contractions.”
The hospital claims to be the first to offer the pain reliever.
