MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Demonstrations organized by the "No Kings" movement are planned across southeast Wisconsin on Saturday, Oct. 18. Organizers say the coordinated protests aim to emphasize that "America has no kings" and that "power belongs to the people."
Organizers accuse President Trump and his administration of acting with authoritarian intent, using claims about federal agents targeting immigrant families, conducting arrests without warrant and attempting to influence elections.
Events are scheduled in the following locations:
- Milwaukee: Cathedral Square Park, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Madison: State Capitol, King St. side, 2 to 5 p.m.
- Kenosha: Civic Center Park, 1 to 4 p.m.
- Racine/Pleasant Prairie: Corner of Highways 31 and 20, 11 a.m.to 12:30 p.m.
- Cedarburg: Community Gym, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
- Oconomowoc: Village Green, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
According to the group’s website, the aim is to be a peaceful protest movement opposing what it calls authoritarian policies. Organizers say the nationwide gatherings are meant to demonstrate unity and civic engagement under the slogan, "No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings."
They also mention the Oct. 18 demonstrations as a follow-up to their nationwide protests on June 14, President Trump's birthday, which they say drew millions of participants, including at Red Arrow Park in Milwaukee.
