No injuries in fire at Mercury Marine plant in Fond du Lac
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- No one was hurt after a fire sparked inside a dust collection container at Mercury Marine Plant 17 in Fond du Lac.
According to the Fond du Lac Fire Department, the fire happened just after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the dust collection container on the exterior of the building. Investigators say the collection system was being removed from the building when heat was introduced into the container and sparked the fire. Crews used a special suppression agent from Mercury Marine to extinguish the fire due to combustible materials. The fire was contained to the exterior collection system and did not involve the building.
Everyone was evacuated safely and no injuries were reported. Police were called in to help with traffic management while crews put out the fire.
