The Walworth County District Attorney determined no charges will be issued against the officers involved in the death of Kris Kristl which took place on February 2nd, 2017 in the Town of Geneva.
This incident occurred on County Highway H near Petrie Road in the Town of Geneva. According to the District Attorney, a deputy had pulled Kristl over for a traffic stop.
The deputy says Kristl refused to follow his commands and the two got into a physical altercation. That's when the DA says Kristl pulled out a gun and pointed in the deputy's face who then pushed him into a ditch area and fired on him. A City of Elkhorn police officer also saw Krisl point the black handgun at the deputy at which time he also fired several shots at Kristl.
Officers then say that Kristl got up and pointed the gun again at other law enforcement in the street and that's when the deputy shot and killed Kristl. The deputy stated that he believed Krisl was preparing to shoot the other officers standing on the roadway and he feared for their safety.
