Man accidentally shot in the chest in Beaver Dam

BEAVER DAM, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and Beaver Dam Paramedics reported that a 41-year-old man was accidentally shot in the chest near North Hickory Lane and Burr Oak Drive in Beaver Dam.

Authorities say the shooting occurred at 10:47 AM, Sunday, July 18.

Emergency responders detailed that when they arrived they found the victim conscious with a single gunshot wound to the upper chest.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam and was later flown by MedFlight to UW Hospital in Madison.

Local police say there is no threat to the community and the incident remains under investigation.
