Nestl recalls Hot Pockets that may contain "diseased and unsound" meat

GLENDALE, CA -- Nestlé USA is voluntarily recalling two of its Hot Pockets varieties because the meat used in the product may be included in a larger recall for \"diseased and unsound beef\" products.

Hot Pockets brand Philly Steak and Cheese in three different pack sizes and Hot Pockets Croissant Philly Steak and Cheese, in the two-pack box, are being recalled.

Nestlé says a company in its supply chain may have purchased and used meat from Rancho Feeding Corporation, which is already recalling nearly 9 million pounds of its beef products, including beef lips, feet, cheeks and liver.

The USDA classified the Rancho recall as Class I, meaning the products are a \"health hazard\" and that there is a \"reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death\".

No illnesses have been reported.

Consumers should return the Hot Pockets to the place of purchase for a refund.
