MPS posted on X that temperatures are expected to top 90 degrees on Tuesday, Sept. 5. That is the day most elementary schools go back to class.

Last week, MPS closed schools of two days in a row after temperatures soared to 100 degrees.
Most schools do not have air conditioning.
The school district said that it would alert parents if any changes will be made to school or program schedules.
