MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One of the most outspoken members of the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) Board of Directors has resigned.
Director Aisha Carr submitted a resignation letter to Superintendent Keith Posley and Board President Marva Herndon on Wednesday.
"Effective immediately, I am resigning my Milwaukee Public Schools Board Seat for District #4," Carr wrote in the letter. "It has been a great honor to serve the children of the City of Milwaukee."
Carr has found herself embroiled in a pair of recent controversies. Following a contentious board meeting last month, former MPS whistleblower Deb Kuether shared a recorded conversation in which Carr said she'd placed a recording device in Posley's office.
Carr denied putting a recording in the office, telling CBS 58 she had lied to Kuether in an attempt to determine whether she was trustworthy.
Carr is also facing an investigation into whether she ever moved into the district she's representing after her election. She also drew attention for her public refusal to support a $252 million referendum that narrowly passed last month.
Carr did not immediately respond to messages left Thursday.
