MPD Officers Help Homeless Family During Holidays

Milwaukee Police District Five officers showed some holiday compassion and helped a local homeless family in need of assistance. On December 29, Officers Kyle Graf and Nathan Smalkoski responded to North 9th Street and West Burleigh Street for a welfare check.

The officers found an adult woman and her five children (ranging in age from two weeks to 9-years-old) who were put out of her sister’s home and didn’t have anywhere to stay.

The officers called numerous local shelters but were unable to place the family.

The officers decided then to use their own money to pay for a room at a local hotel and buy the family pizza for dinner.
