MPD investigating 6 separate shootings on New Year’s Day

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee Police are investigating six separate shootings which occurred in the early hours of the new year.

The first shooting happened near 16th and Burleigh around 1:38 a.m. A witness told police a 32-year-old man was at a get-together when another person accidentally shot him and left the scene. The victim is expected to be okay.

At 1:45 a.m., police responded to 60th and Fond Du Lac where a 20-year-old was shot following a minor car crash. Authorities say another car pulled beside him and shot him. The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Around 3:18 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot near 47th and Clarke, but is expected to be okay. Authorities say the shooting appears to be the result of a robbery.

Police are also investigating a shooting near 64th and Lisbon around 3:40 a.m. A 42-year-old man went to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At 4 a.m., police were called to a shooting near Old World Third and Highland where a 31-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

A 44-year-old man is also hurt after being shot near 32nd and Sheridan around 4:05 a.m. Police say he was shot after suspects from a car fired at him.
