Mount Pleasant police cite two drivers for racing on highway

Two drivers were cited for racing on State Highway 31 in Mount Pleasant Sunday morning.

Police said that an officer spotted a Toyota Avalon and a Cadillac Deville racing on State Highway 31 just south of Braun Road shortly before 7 AM.

The vehicles were going 109 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. 

The officer turned on his lights and sirens and the Toyota Avalon pulled over.

The Cadillac Deville continued turning eastbound on State Highway 11. 

A second officer stopped the Cadillac Deville a short distance away.

Both drivers were cited for racing on a Highway and speed in excess of fixed limits. The driver of the Toyota Avalon was also cited for operating with no insurance.
