Mother and Daughter of Fallen Officer Attend Law Enforcement Memorial

In Milwaukee on Tuesday, law enforcement families remembered those who make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The mother of fallen Officer Wendolyn Tanner was on hand marking her child's passing while chasing a suspect 20 years ago.

Joining the officer's mother was the daughter Officer Tanner never met.

He was just 29 when shot in the line of duty.

They and other law enforcement families laid wreaths at a memorial at Clas Park outside the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

“And like doctors and priests we share a unique bond with those whom we serve. Based on mutual respect and trust, our relationships with the community forge the very basis of ordered liberty,” said Chief Ed Flynn, Milwaukee Police Dept.

The prayers and readings during the ceremony called upon those who wear the shield today to serve with ethics and pride in keeping with the sacrifice of the fallen.
