More than 200 Community Advocates Attend Summit on Opioid

More than 200 community advocates are attending a summit at the Italian Cultural Center today.

Local, state and federal officials including the drug enforcement administration are focusing what they call 'key sectors' important to bringing about change including faith, families, education, law enforcement and health care.  

This is actually a result of the Drug Enforcement Administration's desire to do something different. 

To recognize the fact that they can't arrest nor treat their way out of this national epidemic that we're dealing with."

Also being discussed is the DEA's 360 strategy which incorporates not only law enforcement but community agencies focused on preventing heroin and prescription drug abuse.
