Mom Nabbed For Shoplifting Escapes Security, Leaves 4-Year-Old Behind
PHILADELPHIA (CBS Philadelphia) — Philadelphia Police say a mother, who was nabbed for shoplifting at a Center City department store earlier this month, escaped from security without the child she brought with her. Now there’s a warrant out for the woman’s arrest.
It happened just after 6:00 p.m. on the Thursday before Valentine’s Day.
Authorities say 27-year-old Mahogany Ashly Terry, of Strawberry Mansion, was at Macy’s with her 4-year-old daughter, helping herself to about $1,400 worth of merchandise, when Loss Prevention specialists moved in.
They were taken to security, and one of Terry’s wrists was tethered to a bench. She managed to slip out of the handcuff, and took off, leaving the little girl behind. Philadelphia Police were called, and they took the child to the Department of Human Services. She was later reunited with relatives.
Now a warrant has been issued for her mother. Anyone with information about where she is is asked to call police.
