Modern take of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' part of Marcus Performing Arts Center's Broadway series

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- "I never figured out how Atticus knew I was listening, and it was not until many years later that I realized he wanted me to hear every word he said."

Emmy Award-winning actor Richard Thomas will star as Atticus Finch in the Milwaukee stage production of "To Kill a Mockingbird," a new version of the play written by Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin.

Directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher and based on Harper Lee's classic novel, the play will make its Milwaukee premiere at the Marcus Performing Arts Center from Nov. 7 - 12.

Set in Alabama during 1934, the story of racial injustice and childhood innocence focuses on small-town lawyer Atticus Finch, his children, Scout and Jem and their mysterious neighbor Boo Radley. Since its Broadway launch, the play has set records as the highest-grossing American play.

Those interested in the Milwaukee performances can subscribe to the 2023/24 Johnson Financial Group Broadway at the Marcus Center. Subscription packages start at $265 for a 6-show package and $305 for the 7-show package.
