Missing teen Kathryn Stalbaum reunited with family in Waukesha Co.

WAUKESHA COUNTY—The 15-year-old girl from Waukesha County who disappeared on her way to school earlier this week has been reunited with her family.


Kathryn Stalbaum was found safe in Chicago Friday night after approaching a Chicago police officer for help.

 


She is now back at in her Town of Genesse home.

 


Officials said that Kathryn left on her own and was found alone and they are not looking for anyone in relation to her disappearance.

 


Detectives have not spoken with Kathryn yet. They are letting her rest and let her family process what happened before they talk to her.

 


Officials read a statement from the family that thanked the community for their outpouring of support and help in trying to bring Kathryn home safely.

 


It said that Kathryn has expressed a desire to get back to her normal life.

 


It also stated that that they would like the community to remain sensitive to the fragile events that have taken place and that they are currently in a healing process.

 


Police haven’t said how long Kathryn was in Chicago or how she got there.

 


Her bike was located Thursday in a neighborhood near Waukesha Memorial Hospital and police said that the bike was likely left as she made her way to Chicago.

 


Kathryn went missing Tuesday. She sent a text message to a friend that said that she missed her bus and would ride her bike to Kettle Moraine High School, but she never showed up.
