Milwaukee's Sugar Maple hosting 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' pop-up event

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In honor of the beloved animated series "Avatar: The Last Airbender," The Sugar Maple in Milwaukee is hosting a four-day pop-up event.

Located at 441 E. Lincoln Avenue, the pop-up will incorporate elements from the animated series, with an emphasis on supporting local artists and vendors.

Scheduled to start on Thursday, June 22, and continue until Sunday, June 25, activities will include a curated art show, a vendor fair, daily offerings from Cocina Filipina, a flash tattoo pop-up and a bartender-themed obstacle course.

A costume contest with themed prizes is also set to take place.

Detailed timings and activities for the event are as follows:

  • Thursday, June 22 (4 p.m.-10 p.m.): Artists’ Reception (4-10 p.m.), Cocina Filipina Food Truck (5-9 p.m.)
  • Friday, June 23 (4 p.m.-midnight): Costume Contest (8-9 p.m.), Cocina Filipina Food Truck (5-9 p.m.)
  • Saturday, June 24 (noon-midnight): Avatar Themed Vendor Fair (1-6 p.m.), Curated Dance Performance (8 p.m.), Cocina Filipina Food Truck (5-9 p.m.)
  • Sunday, June 25 (noon-10 p.m.): Flash Tattoos By Eesh Works (noon), “The Last Bartender” Obstacle Course (5 p.m.), Cocina Filipina Food Truck (5-9 p.m.)

The venue will be decorated with props and limited-edition merchandise designed by Xay Matabele and Harrison Browning will be available.

Five tie-dyed sweatshirts, each representing one of the elements in the series, will be silent auctioned. Proceeds, along with a portion from the sales of a beer created by Indeed Brewing Company and The Sugar Maple, will benefit The Milwaukee Riverkeepers.
