Milwaukee's Mexican Consulate Begins Trial Phase
Today Milwaukee is officially on the map when it comes to the government of Mexico.
This morning the city's new Mexican Consulate is expected to open for appointments for its citizens in Milwaukee.
The government agency will serve the 260,000 Hispanic people who live in Milwaukee County, and that number is expected to rise.
Staff can serve 150 people a day, and they're hoping to make the staff more mobile in the future.
The Consulate will operate on a trial phase starting today, fulfilling a limited number of appointments. If all systems are working correctly, a formal celebration could happen around the first of July.
