MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Visit Milwaukee is hosting a first-ever community cheese swap Friday, May 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The New Fashioned, with the actual swapping beginning at noon.
The concept is simple: bring a sealed, store-bought wedge of cheese, leave with someone else's. Store bought and sealed seem to be the key words, as noted on the event's web page: "This is not the moment for your experimental batch, your basement-aged creation, or anything you have described to friends as 'still developing.'"
The event also marks the latest phase of the Milwaukee Gold Rush, a citywide scavenger hunt that now involves cheese-shaped sculptures hidden around Milwaukee, some of which may contain cash. The hunt builds toward a grand finale on June 5.
The event also includes games from Bars and Recreation and grilled cheese samples from The New Fashioned mobile kitchen.
