Milwaukee's 2020 Festa Italiana, Polish Fest canceled over coronavirus concerns
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Festivals at Milwaukee's Summerfest grounds have been canceled over coronavirus concerns.
Festa Italiana and Polish Fest announced Tuesday, March 31, they will not host their events in 2020.
The Italian Community Center said the decision to cancel Festa Italiana was made after careful consideration due to the unforeseen circumstances of COVID-19.
"The coronavirus has impacted virtually every business and industry across the country. The health and safety of our employees, volunteers, vendors, members and certainly our attendees are our highest priority to ensure a safe environment for everyone,' Italian Community Center President and Festa General Chairman Joseph Emanuele said in a news release.
The release went on to say, "Festa Italiana will return to its glory BIGGER and BETTER than ever in 2021."
Polish Fest shared a message on Facebook saying they are discussing alternatives for rescheduling.
