Milwaukee woman charged in deadly Brady Street crash stemming from police pursuit

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Charges have been filed in the deadly Brady Street crash that killed 28-year-old El Moctar Sidiya and seriously injured another on July 29.
Cera Wilkerson, 22, is charged with fleeing/eluding officers resulting in the death of another, second-degree reckless homicide, second-degree reckless injury, and second-degree recklessly endangering safety.
According to the criminal complaint, officers patrolling the area near North Avenue and Teutonia attempted to stop Wilkerson for speeding but she began to flee eastbound on Center Street. Police say Wilkerson nearly struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk at the intersection of Center and N. MLK Drive before turning south on Humboldt Boulevard.
The pursuit came to an end when police say Wilkerson blew a red light at Humboldt and Brady, crashing into a car driven by Sidiya.
Officers estimated she was traveling upwards of 88 mph in a posted 25 mph residential area while disregarding red lights and driving into oncoming traffic.
Sidiya was taken to an area hospital where he died of his injuries. His passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Prosecutors say data collected by officers from Wilkerson's vehicle indicated Wilkerson was traveling at 60 mph three seconds prior to the crash and that she did not apply the brakes at any point in the five seconds prior to impact.
When questioned by authorities, the complaint says Wilkerson admitted to seeing police lights and believed she was getting pulled over for running a red light. She said she has bad anxiety, a bad history with police, and did not remember what happened until she struck the other vehicle.
