MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee VA is waiting on its first shipment of the vaccine as state health officials say they expect to receive 65,000 doses of the vaccine this month.
The Milwaukee VA hospital is expected to be one of the first to receive it.50,000 of those will come from Pfizer.
VA officials could not confirm when they'll receive the first doses. They are one of 37 VA sites selected to receive the vaccine.
"You know along with the healthcare workers and the essential workers who should also get the vaccine, but I think that the veterans themselves do have some underlying conditions, because they have served their country you know I believe that it's appropriate," Great Lakes Dryhootch Executive Director Otis Winstead said.
The FDA plans to review the Moderna vaccine in people 18-years-old and older later this week.
