MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As temperatures drop, the Milwaukee Coalition of Housing and Homelessness is taking steps to support the homeless community by opening winter warming shelters.
On Monday, Nov. 25, designated warming sites across Milwaukee will open their doors to anyone who needs shelter from the cold.
But that's not all the shelters offer, hot meals will be provided as well.
"It will save their lives in the middle of winter, and it gives us a resource to give them in the middle of the night. Eight or nine months out of the year we go, and we visit people, and we have to leave them in their homeless situation because there isn't always an immediate resource. This warming season, there will be an immediate option for outreach workers," said Beth Lappen, homeless outreach team supervisor.
