Milwaukee to benefit from giveaway of turkey and pumpkin pie, plus a safety resource fair

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In an effort to support Milwaukee's communities, the United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee is hosting a unique event that combines a turkey and pumpkin pie giveaway with a safety resource fair. This initiative, part of the Safer City MKE project, aims to address essential needs while promoting safety and well-being among residents.

The event, scheduled for Monday, Nov. 20 from 3 - 5 p.m., will feature a distribution of turkeys and pies on a first-come, first-serve basis.

In addition to the food giveaway, representatives from several local organizations, including Community Advocates Public Policy Institute, Sixteenth Street Community Health Clinics, Vivent Health and the Office of Community Wellness & Safety, will be present. They will provide crucial resources such as mental health and suicide prevention information, locked medication boxes, Narcan, Fentanyl test strips, gun locks and general community service information.

Renée Logee, Executive Director of UNCOM, said in a Friday, Nov. 17 statement, "Giving out free turkeys and pies and hosting a safety resource fair is our small way of giving back to the community we serve and aligns with our mission to improve the quality of lives for Milwaukee's families."

Residents interested in attending the event can head to the South Parking Lot of the Wellness Commons building located at 1609 W North Ave.
