Milwaukee temperatures and tensions spike: 2 dead, 6 injured in Saturday/Sunday shootings

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Saturday was the first day of 2022 to reach 80 degrees and also saw a spike in gun violence. Throughout Milwaukee, police are reporting eight instances of gunshot victims, two of which have died due to their injuries. 

At around 3:29 p.m. on Sat. April 23 near the corner of 29th and St. Paul, a 43-year-old man was shot and is expected to survive. He arrived to a local hospital where he is expected to survive. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation. Milwaukee Police continue to seek unknown suspect(s). 

At approximately 5:18 p.m., near 50th St. and Luscher Ave., a 28-year-old Milwaukee man, sustained non-fatal injuries after being struck by gunfire. He was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to survive. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation. Milwaukee Police continue to seek unknown suspect(s). 

A 19-year-old woman was shot Sat., April 23, at approximately 6:12 p.m., near 66th St. and Lisbon Ave. Family members of the victim have identified her as Leah Davis. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Milwaukee Police have a suspect in custody. Charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.

At around 8:14 p.m., on Sat. April 23, a 23-year-old man was shot near 27th and Burleigh streets. Family is reporting to CBS 58 that his name is Lashont Stewart. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead on-scene. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation. Milwaukee Police continue to seek unknown suspect(s). 

Around 9:00 p.m. a 33-year-old Milwaukee man was shot near Keefe and Vel R. Phillips avenues. He sustained non-fatal injuries after being struck by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to survive. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation. Milwaukee Police continue to seek unknown suspect(s). 

A 33-year old man sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds at around 9:24 p.m., near Custer and Medford avenues. He was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to survive. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are robbery related. Milwaukee Police continue to seek unknown suspect(s).

Around 1:15 a.m. on Sun., April 24 a 41-year-old Milwaukee man was struck by non-fatal gunfire around 23rd and Orchard streets. He was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to survive. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are robbery related. Milwaukee Police continue to seek unknown suspect(s). 

Near the corner of Garfield Ave. and Martin Luther King Dr. a 23-year-old Milwaukee man was struck by non-fatal gunfire. The victim arrived by himself to a local hospital where he is expected to survive. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation. Milwaukee Police continue to seek unknown suspect(s).
