MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Better Business Bureau is urging local sports fans to be cautious when purchasing team jerseys online, as scams have been reported involving counterfeit and non-existent products.
Jim Temmer, President of the Wisconsin BBB, joined us on Thursday, April 13 to discuss the issue that affects fans of Milwaukee teams like the Bucks and Brewers.
The BBB says that scammers often create websites that appear legitimate, featuring a large selection of jerseys from popular colleges and professional teams. Some offer regular prices, while others claim deep discounts or limited inventory.
After making a purchase, customers may receive a fake tracking number, a low-quality counterfeit jersey, or nothing at all.
To avoid falling victim to such scams, the BBB advises customers to shop with reputable businesses, check for BBB accreditation, be wary of deals that seem too good to be true and use safe payment practices. For more information, visit BBB.org/sports.
