Milwaukee school pays tribute to 5-year-old student fatally shot

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee German Immersion School is paying respects to a 5-year-old student who died over the weekend. 

Jamal Anderson Jr. was shot in a home on Lovers Lane near Silver Spring on Saturday, Feb. 8.

A sign in front of Milwaukee German Immersion School now reads, "Jamal you and your family are in our thoughts & hearts." 

In a Facebook post the school shared the following message: 

"It is with great sadness that we remember Jamal, a K5 student at MGIS who passed away over the weekend.

We remember Jamal for his friendliness, his warm smile, and his love of music. Jamal will be missed by everyone at MGIS who had the pleasure of knowing him."

Jamal's father father was arrested in connection for drugs and neglect causing death. 

A GoFundMe has raised $10,000 for the family.
