Milwaukee Public Schools to honor 4 high schools ranked among the best in Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Public Schools will honor students and leaders from four district high schools listed among the best in the state and country.

The schools made the U.S. News and World Report's Best High Schools list released in April.

In state rankings, Ronald Reagan College Preparatory High School is ranked #2; Rufus King International High School is ranked #3; Carmen High School of Science and Technology is ranked #7 and Milwaukee School of Languages is ranked #12.

Reagan and King high schools ranked higher on the list than any other high school in southeastern Wisconsin and the rankings show the district is home to 3 of the state's top 10 high schools.

U.S. News and World Report created the rankings by working with American Institutes for Research to look at schools in three phases -- evaluating overall performance on state standardized tests; how well schools educated black, Hispanic and economically disadvantaged students; and participation and performance on academically advanced exams to assess how well students are prepared for college-level courses.

MPS will honor the students and leaders at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Reagan High School, 4965 S. 20th Street.
