MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For the first time since the pandemic, the Milwaukee Public Museum's European Village Alive! event is taking place.
More than a dozen interpreters dress up in period clothing that represent different European heritages at the turn of the 20th century.
They are in the European village exhibit, which is decorated for the holidays, to share stories and artifacts with visitors that relate to various European holiday traditions.
"A lot of the Christmas traditions we celebrate today originally came from European, our gallery in general highlights the immigrants that came to Milwaukee from the mid to late 19th century. What we do here today is really teaching people all the things we celebrate and why we do that and where it came from. Like, Christmas wreaths from Germany and stockings from Belgium," said Amanda Copp, Collections Interpretations Manager at MPM.
You can check it out at the Milwaukee Public Museum from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9.
