Milwaukee Public Library hosting first job expo at Central Library this Thursday

Milwaukee Public Library invites residents to attend the first annual Job Expo at Central Library on Thursday, June 22 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. High-quality employers and opportunities will be presented with special opportunities for ex-offenders, limited English-speakers, and teens. Resume and application assistance will also be available, no appointments necessary. A Spanish translator will also be onsite.

This is the third time this year that Milwaukee Public Library has connected residents to jobs through events. Earlier this year, MPL hosted job fairs geared specifically to teens at the Forest Home and Martin Luther King, Jr. branches.

“The Milwaukee Public Library is uniquely positioned to help our residents with job training, skills development, and connection to employers so that they may lead healthy and productive lives,” said Paula Kiely, Library Director. “We are excited about the opportunities presented at our first annual job expo and we are grateful to our sponsors and partners for making this possible.”

“This is another example of how our libraries are vital community assets in strengthening our City,” Mayor Barrett said. “The Milwaukee Public Library is continuing its efforts in connecting job seekers with employers and organizations. I am encouraging residents to attend the First Annual Job Expo to access these important career resources.”

Dozens of employers from the Milwaukee area will be present at the Job Expo, including Aurora Healthcare, Briggs & Stratton, Manpower, Milwaukee Public Schools, Woodman’s Food Market and the City of Milwaukee. A complete list, along with links to employer websites, is available at mpl.org/JobExpo.
