'I'm so frightened': Mother pleads for help to find missing 14-year-old daughter
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are asking for the public's help in locating a critically missing teen.
Officials say 14-year-old Olivia Hanson went missing around 8:30 p.m. April 17, from the area of 88th and Vienna.
She's described as a white female, 5'3", 170 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black jacket with red stripes, black pajama pants and black Crocs.
"Got a big heart, she's amazing, she’s been through a lot in her past," said Virginia Attaway, Hanson's mother.
For the last several days, Attaway has been handing fliers to anyone she comes across — hoping that someone may have seen her daughter.
“I’m out here day and night looking for her and all these worst-case scenarios running through my mind and I’m so frightened," said Attaway. "It took me getting here, getting on the ground, calling everybody and making the whole world see my daughter’s face.”
Hanson had come to Lad Lake from Southern Illinois to begin treatment for mental health issues. Attaway says on April 18, she received a call from Lad Lakes staff that her daughter, 14-year-old Hanson had left the facility.
"She knew nobody here, she’s not from this location. She has no acquaintances in this city," said Attaway.
Attaway says according to community tips, her daughter may have been seen getting into a car with an older man at the Ambassador Hotel. In a statement sent to CBS 58, Lad Lake says, in part:
“We are actively cooperating with authorities and doing everything we can to assist in efforts to locate her safely. Lad Lake is a treatment program—not a secure facility—where youth are supported in open, restorative environments intended to rebuild trust, foster resilience, and reclaim hope. We remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting survivors and working closely with families, law enforcement, and community partners to ensure every young person has the opportunity to heal, thrive, and live free from exploitation."
Attaway says she just wants her daughter brought home, safe.
“If you see her, please report. Report to the local authorities, my daughter, every moment that goes by she is in more danger.”
