Milwaukee police release briefing video on officer-involved shooting in Glendale
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police released a community briefing video Monday, Oct. 9, regarding the officer-involved shooting that occurred in Glendale on Aug. 25.
A Milwaukee police officer and two shooting victims were taken to the hospital following the incident near the Residence Inn.
According to Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman, officers were in the area of Green Tree Road and Port Washington Road for a suspect wanted for felony warrants. He said as officers began to approach the suspect, the suspect and two others attempted to flee in a vehicle and struck an officer, pinning him against an unmarked squad. The officer fired shots, striking two suspects.
Those injured, a 20-year-old man and 18-year-old man, were taken to an area hospital for treatment and arrested.
Police said the injured officer, a 31-year-old man with over five years of service, was also taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer involved was placed on administrative duty, and criminal charges have been issued against the suspect.
The Milwaukee Police Department Homicide Division is leading the investigation.
