MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department took the chance to further their connection with the community during "Walk and Roll" Thursday, July 24.

Officers joined kids and families from around Milwaukee County for a walk or bike ride around American Family Field.

The event, now in its second year, gives community members the chance to talk with officers one-on-one and ask questions about their jobs or things happening in their community.

"A lot of times, what we like to do is have police officers and community members engage with each other to give them a chance to have that personal, one-on-one time," said Sgt. Ron Edwards. "Where they can actually engage and talk and ask questions that they wouldn't normally be able to ask a police officer, because maybe the police officer is always on the go or what have you. So this gives them the chance to have that one-on-one time to actually engage and talk about realistic topics and things that are going on in life."

In addition to the walk, MPD also raffled off all kinds of items to local kids, including bikes and skateboards.
