Man charged in hit-and-run that killed Watertown father of 3
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Riveting images from Milwaukee Police body camera video shows two officers saving a mother and her child who were involved in a hit-and-run crash.
The crash happened in October on Oklahoma Avenue.
The officers broke through one of the car's windows and pulled the woman and 17-month-old toddler to safety. They were taken to the hospital and are okay.
"It was a good feeling when we realized the child was alright. Originally we didn't realize there was a young child in there so when the mom handed the child over and we realized the child was conscious and breathing it's a good feeling to know everyone was safe and alright," said Officer Michael Ward.
"You really don't think about being called a hero. Just, we were at the right place at the right time. Training kicked in we did what we had to do," said Officer Thomas Kresa.
Both officers were honored with Merit Awards during a ceremony at the Milwaukee Police Academy on Tuesday.
