MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It was a day of celebration at the Milwaukee Police Academy, as the Milwaukee Police Department welcomed their next batch of officers.
MPD welcomed 28 new recruits to the force.
A ceremony was held at the academy where the new members were honored for their hard work.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson took to the podium commenting on the responsibility and pride that comes with wearing the badge.
"As you are faced with tough decisions, remember to lead with compassion and to lead with integrity, it is these sort of values that will keep you grounded to always do what is right when you out there engaging with folks in the public, even when that decision may not be the easiest one," said Mayor Johnson.
At the end of the ceremony, the officers were given their badges alongside members of their family and close friends.
