MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee has 58 new police officers. The recruits graduated at the police academy on Thursday.
They’ve been in training since December of last year and proudly accepted their new badges, knowing full well that it is a difficult time to be a police officer in Milwaukee.
“The last week was rough, but it reminded me of the reason why I signed up in the beginning,” said Officer Dorian Moore.
“As long as you’re doing your job, you don’t have anything to worry about. They teach us integrity here and I’m very, very proud to say that I work for this department,” said Officer Rashad Steward.
“I’m excited to be here. I wanted to do this. 28 weeks, made it, excitement,” Moore said.
Police Chief Alfonso Morales says the MPD is molding the class to what he calls the new vision and mission of the department.
