MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department wants to keep people from going hungry this summer.
"Know that we're here always, not only when you're in need -- when you need us and you call us and you call 911," MPD Captain Kristin Riestra said. "We're here for you, we'll collect food for you just when times are hard."
District six partnered with the local non-profit "Umos" to collect food.
People dropped off non-perishables and other food items at the department on 27th St.
Everything collected will go to the Umos food pantry.
