MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With May recognized as National Moving Month, UNITS Milwaukee General Manager John McNeil joined us Monday, May 12 to offer practical ideas for a smoother moving experience.
McNeil recommended starting with a first night survival box filled with essentials like toiletries, clothing and chargers to avoid added stress during the initial hours after a move. To protect fragile items without added cost, he advised wrapping breakables in towels to save space and money.
Color-coded labels or QR code stickers, McNeil said, can streamline the unpacking process. For loading portable containers, he suggested stacking items by weight and room, known as the "lasagna method."
McNeil added that portable containers allow for greater flexibility than traditional trucks, especially for staggered moves.
