MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee officials are advancing plans to replace the city’s official flag through the formation of a nine-member task force.
A resolution filed by Alderman Peter Burgelis and other Common Council members seeks to formalize the initiative and guide the public design process.
The Common Council introduced the resolution Tuesday, June 17. A vote is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24.
If approved, the Milwaukee City Flag Task Force would coordinate a community-led campaign with support from city departments and the Milwaukee Public Library.
Task force members would be selected by the mayor, Common Council president and Milwaukee Arts Board chair. The group would evaluate submissions and recommend a final design by December 31, 2025.
