Milwaukee man sentenced to 3 years in death of 14-year-old Tommorrow Brumfield
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man was sentenced to three years in prison Friday, Sept. 22, in connection to the death of a 14-year-old girl.
Damon Douglas pleaded guilty to homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon after fatally shooting Tommorrow Brumfield in a home near 81st and Villard in June of 2022.
According to a criminal complaint, Douglas had known Brumfield for "a long time" and treated her as one of his kids.
The day of the shooting, Douglas reportedly drove Brumfield to a nail salon to get her nails done ahead of her 8th grade graduation. A child who also lived at the home told investigators when they returned, Brumfield was playing with a toy BB gun.
The child told investigators Douglas then put a real gun to Brumfield's head. He said he heard "one big boom" and saw Brumfield was shot.
Another woman at the residence told investigators Douglas kept saying, "it was an accident" and dropped to the floor, screaming.
Douglas' sentence will be followed by three years extended supervision.
