Milwaukee man pleads guilty in death of 14-year-old Tommorrow Brumfield
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man charged in the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old girl changed his plea to guilty Tuesday, Aug. 15.
Damon Douglas originally pleaded not guilty during a preliminary hearing back in June.
On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to a charge of homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon in the death of Tommorrow Brumfield.
A criminal complaint says Douglas had known Brumfield for "a long time" and treated her and her sisters as his kids. It says on the day of the shooting, Brumfield was playing with a toy BB gun. Douglas then allegedly put a real gun to her head and shot her.
Another woman at the residence stated Douglas kept saying, "it was an accident," and dropped to the floor, screaming.
A sentencing hearing is set for Sept. 22.
