MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 25-year-old Milwaukee man, found guilty of fatally shooting a man back in May of 2022, learned his fate in court on Thursday, May 30. 

Jose Davila-Gali was sentenced to life in prison following a jury trial. 

Police say the shooting happened in the early morning hours of May 15, 2022 near 19th and Lincoln. 

The victim, identified as 28-year-old Juan Estela Ortiz, died from 80 gunshot wounds. 

According to the criminal complaint, investigators used surveillance footage and ballistic evidence to tie Davila-Gali to the crime.
