Milwaukee man drowns in Lake Michigan

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner says that a 34-year old Milwaukee man drowned in Lake Michigan at Klode Park in Whitefish Bay at about 8:00 PM Saturday evening.

The information from the scene is that the man was with friends and decided to swim out towards some rocks when he began to struggle and call for help.

The first Whitefish Bay Police Officer on scene jumped in and pulled the man out after swimming about 100 feet. A citizen helped the officer by extending a tree branch for him to grab on to. North Shore Fire Rescue rushed him to the hospital where he died soon after arrival.
