Milwaukee Man Arrested for OWI due to Marijuana with 1-Year-Old in Car

29-year-old Alvaro Patrico Acosta from Milwaukee has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol for operating a motor vehicle under the influence with a child in the car under the age of 16.

Acosta was stopped Friday, March 17 at 8:06 PM on I-94 north near 7 Mile Road in Racine County for a license plate violation. Upon making contact with Mr. Acosta, the Trooper detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The Trooper administered a Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and Acosta was subsequently placed under arrest for the suspicion of Operating While Intoxicated Drugged Driving, 1st Offense, with a Passenger Under the Age of 16.

Acosta was taken to All Saints Hospital for a legal blood draw and was then transported to the Racine County Jail. Mr. Acosta is being held on charges of OWI, possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating with a suspended license 8th offense.

The child in the car was 1-year-old and was turned over to a responsible party.
