Face masks allowed for Milwaukee law enforcement officers until air quality health advisory ends
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police officers and Milwaukee County sheriff's deputies will be allowed to wear protective face masks Thursday due to a formal health advisory issued over hazardous air quality.
Community group Forward Latino says they were notified by law enforcement Wednesday morning, noting that while N95 masks are recommended, the use of any mask available is allowed.
This is in accordance with the "special circumstances" detailed in new city ordinance.
"We support their decision given the large and heavy concentration of the particulates in the air due to the wildfires," Forward Latino said.
Milwaukee police confirm officers have been given the option to wear masks if they choose.
Law enforcement will be allowed to wear the protective face masks until the health advisory officially ends.
