MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee community leaders were in the Bronzeville District on March 26 highlighting a new development project.
'Homeworks - Bronzeville' bought the property near Vel R Phillips and Meinecke.
They will turn the site into a space for artists to live and work.
There will be year-round programming and resources to create art installations.
Alderwoman Milele Coggs said it's important for the city to work with artists to help with Bronzeville's growth.
"We wanted artist housing and we tried a million different ways," said Coggs. "But it wasn't until we sat down with creatives and artists and saw what their needs really were that we began to create programs and work with them to be able to create what you see here today."
This will be the second development in the neighborhood for 'Homework - Bronzeville'.
