Milwaukee Intermodal Station Opens after Renovations

After about a year and a half of construction, the new train concourse is now open for business at the Milwaukee Intermodal Station.

DOT Secretary Mark Gottlieb and other state and local officials cut the ribbon on the concourse just over an hour ago.

The $22 million reconstruction project spans 121 feet, is 400 feet long and includes state of the art hearing technology for those who are hard of hearing.

There is also new lighting and signage.

The DOT Secretary tells us this will go a long way to pump more tourism dollars back into Milwaukee

"The previous passenger concourse that we had here was 50 years old it was dark and dank and didn't provide a real inviting picture to people either entering or leaving the city.  Whereas, this facility is bright and airy and real accommodating to people w disabilities. It's like a night and day difference,” said Mark Gottlieb.

The DOT says 600,000 passengers a year pass along this platform.
