MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kirsten Johnson is resigning as Milwaukee's commissioner of health.
This month marks two years since Johnson was appointed. She previously served as director of the Washington Ozaukee Health Department.
Johnson is the fifth person to lead Milwaukee's health department since 2018.
The turnover began with the resignation of Bevan Baker who was accused of a mismanaging the city's health crisis.
Since then, four women have led the department as commissioner or interim commissioner.
They are Patricia McManus, Jeanette Kowalik, Marlaina Jackson, and Johnson.
"The health commissioner came into this job at the onset of this global COVID-19 pandemic," Mayor Johnson said. "It's been a trying, stressful two years and she's been at the epicenter of that."
Kirsten will resign at the beginning of March.
