Dropping temps and a shower chance for Brewers Opening Day
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee families came out to the MMSD's West Basin near 35th and Capitol for Bike and Play Fest on Saturday, June 29.
It was hosted by the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation, who is hoping to highlight the area as the community is working to turn it into a water basin and a community green space.
Today's event included free bike repairs, information about summer bike rides, and a kids safety course from the Rec Department.
"It's an opportunity to connect with neighbors and residents who are here who are going to have to be around this space through construction and then after. And we want to make them feel welcome and engaged in the design process and then feel that sense of ownership in this green space once it's done and constructed," said Sarah Bregant, with Northwest Side Community Development.
MMSD will start construction on the water basin next month, and the project should be completed sometime in 2026.
