Milwaukee County's chief medical examiner announces retirement, effective immediately

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The man who led the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office for the last 12 years has left. 

County Executive David Crowley says Brian Peterson announced his retirement Monday, Sept. 19, effective immediately.

Peterson joined the office in 2008 and was then appointed chief in 2010. 

In a news release, Crowley said:

“Today, Brian Peterson shared his intention to retire from his role as Milwaukee County Examiner. His retirement is effective immediately. On behalf of Milwaukee County, I offer my deepest gratitude to Dr. Peterson for his many years of work and service. I wish him and his family a healthy and fulfilling retirement. Deputy Medical Examiner Dr. Wieslawa Tlomak, MD now serves as interim Milwaukee County Medical Examiner.”
